Getting the most from your assets
Improving the bottom line is a prime objective of most businesses. In larger organisations, it can be difficult to get your people committed and equipped to help achieve this goal.
The Business © is a tried and tested programme designed to provide employees with the tools to help their company improve its financial performance. It has been run successfully for many well-known companies in the UK. The programme, which was originally developed 14 years ago for a major British plc, is aimed at managers and other team members who may not be particularly financially aware but who can still have a significant impact on the way the business operates and, therefore, on its financial performance. Whilst the programme does aim to develop a good understanding of the basics of business finance, it is much more than simply a ‘finance for non-financial managers’ course.
The key objective of The Business © is to improve dramatically the awareness of each delegate to their individual and team contribution to the overall success of the business. The programme is highly interactive and very enjoyable for the participants. The normal model involves 6 to 12 people, arranged into teams, in a two-day workshop format. The final part of the second day introduces participants to a simple yet powerful process which helps them explore some ways in which the organisation can improve its performance by focusing on better management of costs and assets.
Then, over the next 4-6 weeks, each attendee takes what they have learnt on the course and develops an idea about and a plan for improving things within the company: it may be a way of reducing costs, of getting better use from a particular asset, a means of reducing wastage, etc. Finally, the group reassembles for a two to three-hour session with their executive team to present their ideas and seek sanction to put them into practice.
Just as a key message to participants is that return on investment is the most important business performance measurement, The Business © itself offers a sound return on training investment. Over the years, the results of the ideas developed have proven with every client to be many times the cost of the programme, so we can offer a money-back guarantee that, if the potential benefits identified are not at least five times the programme cost, the fees will be refunded.
